(Saturday, May 2, 6pm) Brazilian Rock Night with Andre Bueno & Le Arantes at Pedones in Hermosa Beach. FREE event and a tribute to three of the greatest Brazilian Rock bands of all time: Legiao Urbana, Barao Vermelho and Paralamas do Sucesso. These three iconic bands defined the “BRock” scene of the 1980s, each contributing a unique flavor to Brazilian rock history. Together, they shaped the cultural landscape of Brazil, with their music remaining influential across generations. Pedones is an Italian Pizzaria that features live music on weekends.
(Fri & Sat, May 8 & 9) Made in Brasil, Solo Works at Highways Performance Space, Santa Monica. A sharp, vibrant, and contemporary showcase of Brazilian theatrical talent in Los Angeles. Created by Brazilian artist Leopold Numan the project spotlights Brazilian writers, actors and creators through a bold mix of monologues, hybrid performances, and theatrical experimentation. The production has Bia Oliveira and Andrea Oliveira on the team, and for them, it is not just a showcase but a cultural declaration. (Fri, May 15 and Wed, May 27) Sergio Mendes Band 2026 U.S tour, “60 Years of Brasil ’66 – The Legacy Lives”, led by Gracinha Leporace to honor Sergio Mendes’ legacy, with shows in California, New Jersey, Florida, and more, beginning May 15, 2026, at Yoshi’s in Oakland than May 27 at Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. Join the original members of The Sergio Mendes Band as they continue his legacy by performing his music and celebrating his life. World-class musicians flawlessly locking into each groove, and flourishing with an improvisational mindset.
(Sat, May 16 at 8pm) Wiri Forro Night at Silvios House in Hermosa Beach. The musician from Brazil northeast and living in San Diego get back to Los Angeles for a night of authentic Brazilian forró – raw energy, live connection, and music made to move. No overthinking. Just rhythm, dance, and people feeling it together. Whether it’s your first time or you already love forró – this event may be a good Brazilian “nordeste” experience.

(Sun, Nov 8 at 11am) Formula 1, Brazilian Grand Prix Live at Trademark Brewing in Long Beach. For those fanatics of auto racing, watch the Brazilian Ground Prix with SOUND ON. Doors open one hour before the green flag. Outside food is welcome, however outside beverages are not permitted. Pitchers of beer are available during the race, TVs everywhere! Family friendly and free parking is available with 100+ spaces.

Sat, May 30, 10am to 3pm, SoCal Wienerfest 2026. The FREE dog-friendly event is making 10 years in Huntington Beach and features dachshund races (Dachshund Derby), costume contests, local vendors, and food trucks, with a new location near the Paséa Hotel & Spa – around 21080/21351 Pacific Coast Hwy, Huntington Beach, CA 92648. The Dachshund Derby, the main event, features 64+ dachshunds racing to become the “fastest weenie in the west”. A pretty cool event supported by local rescues that creates a gathering for enthusiasts to discuss Dachshund Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) awareness
(Fri-Sun, June 19 to 21) Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration, a three-day FREE festival at Alameda Park, featuring a massive parade on Saturday starting noon on June 20 at Cota St. with State St. – known as one of Santa Barbara’s largest, the parade is a colorful spectacle that often ends at Alameda Park. The theme this year is “Wonder”, and the celebration includes arts, music, food, and family activities – that includes FUNtopia, a children’s area, face painting, and Kids World.
(Sat, July 25, 9am to 6pm) Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival at Marine Stadium. A FREE annual event and one of the largest dragon boat competitions in California. Dozens of teams compete, each with approximately 18 paddlers per boat. Beyond the races, attendees can enjoy traditional Chinese art demonstrations, acrobats, martial arts, dance performances – including drummers whose rhythmic pulse drives the rowers’ motions, and various food vendors.
(Wed-Sun, Aug 5 to 9) The 103rd annual Old Spanish Days Fiesta in Santa Barbara, California. This five-day (mostly FREE) historic festival celebrates the city’s Mexican, Spanish, and Indigenous heritage with traditional dance, music, parades, and mercados (marketplaces) held throughout downtown venues with the historic “El Desfile Historico on Friday, Aug 7 from Noon to 2pm. Major celebrations take place at the Old Mission Santa Barbara and the Sunken Gardens of the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.

(Fri-Sun, Sept 25 to 27) The 2026 Ohana Festival at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California. Curated by Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam band), this three-day, all-ages festival features rock, indie, and alternative music alongside pro surfing demos and environmental advocacy. By the time we published this festival the line up was not announced, but usually features high-caliber rock/alternative acts, and a pretty cool vibe!
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FREE SUMMER SERIES – MUSIC, DANCE AND FILM
Every Summer one of the greatest things in California is the Free Outdoor and Indoor Music Series in different venues/locations in the golden state – live music and dance FREE to the public is offered during the whole summer every year. Here bellow we cover mostly of these events in Southern California – or at least the best ones!
The Summer Sessions Free Outdoor Concert at the Getty Center in L.A – Each year the series presents a diverse lineup of musical talents, many of whom mix and match musical traditions and genres. The series showcased a myriad of musical styles, from hip-hop, blues, and rock, to Latin boogaloo, Afro-Peruvian jazz, Mexican cabaret, merengue, electronic beats, Indian rhythms, and even Algerian trance music. All concerts are free and no reservations are needed. Concerts take place from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center. www.getty.edu
Summer Series Culver City Music Festival – The Culver City re-development agency and the City of Culver City Presents every year the Annual Culver City Summer Sunset Music Festival. Listen to a mix of Jazz, Samba, Bluegrass, 60’s Rock and World Music at the Culver City Hall Courtyard. Bring a blanket, chairs and a picnic basket and get ready to dance the night away with your family and friends! Summer Series at Fisherman’s Village – Located in beautiful Marina Del Rey in L.A area, Fisherman’s Village offers Saturday concerts from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Summer Series at Burton Chace Park – The Free Marina del Rey Summer Concerts are held in a beautiful waterside setting at Burton Chace Park. The series features Thursday evening classical concerts showcasing the Marina del Rey Summer Symphony, with Frank Fetta, conductor and guest soloists. On alternate weeks, Saturday pop concerts star celebrated musical entertainers. You are welcome to bring a picnic basket full of your favorite foods! Summer Series at Pershing Square – Pershing Square is an outdoor concert and event center located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It hosts an array of free programs for the downtown community such as Swingin’ Wednesday, Lunchtime Concerts and Salsa Sundays. Summer Series at Japanese American National Museum – Located in Little Tokyo near Downtown Los Angeles, the Japanese American National Museum is proud to present the 1st & Central Summer Concerts. The Summer Series at Los Angeles County Museum of Art – LACMA, have admission-free jazz concerts that are presented on the Los Angeles Times Central Court usually between 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. These events feature the art of jazz as practiced by outstanding jazz artists from Los Angeles and elsewhere. City of Beverly Hills “Summer Nights” – The city of Beverlly Hills offer the Concerts on Canon summer season which kicks off in 2024 with Pride Night! Pride Night featured artists Boyish and Yancyabril are from Music Forward Foundation’s LGBTQ+ Emerging Artists Award program.
